Critter Cause Vehicle Donation Program

The Humane Society of Barron County (HSBC) offers a fast and easy way to donate BIG to help the homeless animals in Barron County. We've made it easy for you to get those unwanted items out of your yards or storage, all the while really helping out our shelter. We are looking for a great range of items, including old boats, motorcycles, camping trailers, snowmobiles, cars, trucks, etc. camper. When you donate an item, you are supporting a great cause and showing everyone how much you care. In return for your donation, you will receive a Fair Market Value Tax Deduction. We work hard to ensure that you earn the maximum value possible, which is often MUCH more than you would receive if you sold the item yourself.

Current Auctions

The Humane Society of Barron County is a non-profit open door animal shelter serving Barron County, WI. We've been in operation since 1981 and are a 501(c)3 charity. HSBC is not government or county funded in any way and relies entirely on funds from donations, adoptions, membership, and fundraisers to keep our doors open for the animals that need us. Since becoming an open door shelter in June 2008, we've had nearly as many animals come through our doors as we did the entire year in 2007.

Why should I donate?

  • Release yourself from the storage and maintance fees
  • Get rid of that unsightly yard clutter
  • Free yourself of the guilt of "someday I'll sell it" causes
  • Someone else takes care of the hassle of advertising and selling your item
  • Every dollar goes directly to helping the homeless animals in Barron County
  • No phone calls and waiting to meet dozens of potential buyers before an interested party comes along
  • Na haggling over the price and being offered a fraction of what the item is worth
  • Items sold by us often go for a much higher price than you'd get with a "for sale" sign or a newspaper ad
  • You receive a Fair Market Value Tax Deduction for the dollar amount your item raises
  • You're supporting a great cause.

    How It Works

Step One: Contact us via e-mail or phone (715-537-9063) to be mailed a form to complete that provides us with a full description of the item to be donated. This form can also be downloaded right here. If you call or e-mail needing to be mailed a form, please be aware you need to provide your name, address, phone number, and the type of item you are looking to have sold so we can provide you with a donation form in a timely manner.

Step Two: Complete the form to the best of your ability and return it to us either via e-mail, fax, regular mail, or by dropping it off at the shelter. You will also be asked to provide pictures at this time. If you do not have digital or film pictures to provide, we will provide you with a digital camera to take these pictures. Both the camera and photos need to be turned in to us within 7 days.

Step Three: Your item will be listed and sold with the selling price being at least the Fair Market Value. The item remains on your property while it is being sold. No one will show up or call you about your item as we'll be handling all of those details with the information you provided us. We'll do all the work of selling and finalizing the sale.

Step Four: When your item is sold, you will receive a donation receipt for the entire sales price from us via US Mail. This donation receipt is what you use for a nice tax break and also as a record of the sale of your item. The person who purchased your item will contact you directly to arrange picking it up. It is the purchaser's responsiblity to arrange transportation for the item, so you don't have to worry about how it gets to them.

Step Five: Enjoy the free spot in your yard or storage shed and the nice tax break that you got by helping the Humane Society of Barron County while someone else did all the work of selling that unwanted item! Also enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling of having helped A LOT of animals with your donation.
