15th Annual Doc Stanley Memorial Walk

Registration runs 9 am - 9:30 am

The Doc Stanley Walk is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Humane Society of Barron County and this year we are aiming to make it our most succesful fundraiser ever!! Past walks have raised around $2200 and this year, we're aiming for $10,000! Please come join us for a fun filled morning of scenic walking and special prizes!

The walk starts in the north end of the Goodwill parking lot in Rice Lake, WI at the Cedar Side Trail trailhead. Goodwill is located behind the old Wal-mart right off Hwy O across from Adventures.

Goodwill so graciously donated us the use of this part of their parking lot for the morning for registration and parking for our event.

After checking in, walkers will journey down the beautiful Cedar Side trail. The walk is approximately 2 miles long including a slight loop back. The walk will conclude at the Cedar Side Picnic Shelter, where there will be refreshments for humans and dogs alike. When a majority of the walkers have finished the walk, we will be making the annoucments for drawings and prizes.

This year, we have some GREAT prizes from some great sponsors!

The top pledge raiser will receive a stay at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells!! This prize is good for a family of four and
includes waterpark admission!! This package also includes passes to 'Ripley's Believe It or Not' and Wizards Quest!
The second place pledge raiser will receive a hotel package from the St. Croix Casino!!
Other great prizes include a $50 Wal-mart gift card, gift certificates from our great sponsors Gun Dog Supply and Doctor Foster & Smith,
Action City passes, Wild Mountain passes, a super Furminator package, gift packages from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and The Beastro, certificate for dog training classes, a realistic pet portrait from your favorite photo from KiMark Studio, and great Kong toys!!

Registration

Registration is $15 and includes a commemerative 15th Annual Doc Stanley Walk t-shirt and a goody bag for you and your canine friend. Registration is not required for children walking with an adult. The registration fee is waived for anyone raising over $50 in pledges.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to attend the walk. You need not have adopted from the animal shelter and you don't even have to have a pet!! Even if you are unable to raise money by getting pledges, we still welcome you to come participate in this great event!!

Animal shelter t-shirts and additional walk t-shirts will be available to purchase at the picnic shelter. We also hope to have some adoptable dogs participating in the walk with our volunteers.

Registration Raffle

If you turn in your registration form by September 24th, you'll be entered in a drawing to win a $25 Gun Dog Supply gift certificate. Registerting in advance is not required but appreciated. If you cannot return the form by September 27th, please just bring it with your pledge sheet and funds raised to the walk. (Do not mail us your pledge form unless you are unable to attend the walk. We'd love for you to collect pledges right up to the day of the walk!) The winner of this drawing will also be announced at the end of the walk.

Wishlist Raffle

Taking care of 13+ dogs and 40+ cats on a daily basis, we go through a lot of supplies. Between totally cleaning every cage every day, two square meals a day, treats, and lots of paperwork, some stuff we go through around the shelter like it's water. So we've added another way you can win prizes at the dog walk! For every item that you bring to the walk from our Doc Stanley Memorial Walk Wishlist, your name will be entered in a drawing to win great prizes! (To be fair, some items on this list are worth 2-5 entries instead of just 1)

    Rules and Technical Stuff

  • All dogs must have current rabies shots to participate in the walk. It is recommended that they be current on all shots.
  • All dogs must be fully under control of their owners at all times. Please remember that we are sharing the walking trail with the public and to be courteous of those who may not be as enthuasiastic about our furry friends as we are
  • Leave non-canine pets at home, please.
  • Poop bags will be offered at registration. Please be prepared to pick up after your dog.
  • A signed registration form is required to participate
